In Spain, a unit of length, = ½ vara = ¼ estadio = 2 palmos mayores = 6 palmos menores = 18 pulgadas = 24 dedos = 216 lineas, about 417.5 millimeters (about 16.5 inches). The word also means “elbow”, and the unit belongs to the cubit family.

In Cadiz the codo had the same length but was divided into 2 palmos = 4 octavas = 8 avas.

In Spain, the codo de ribera, = 2 pied = 8 palmos di ribera = 24 pulgadas, about 556.67 millimeters. This unit was used in government arsenals.
