Gunj, or Gunjá, H. &c. () S[anskrit]. Gunjá, () Gunji, Gunje, Karn. ( ) A plant (the Abrus precatorius); also its seed, a small black-and-red seed, forming the nominal unit of Indian weights : the average weight of the seed has been stated at 1 5/16 grains troy, but later experiments make it a trifle more, or 1.934 grain. The jewellers' and goldsmiths' weight of the same denomination is about 2 3/16 grains.
